Blog of the Week: Both Sides of the Table
Straight talkin’, start up investin’, wise crackin’ Mark Suster is a former entrepreneur turned VC blogger who knows the industry inside out. His personal blog, Both Sides of the Table, reads more like a Guidebook to Startups than a blog and each post is jam-packed with his experience and detailed suggestions for how to interact with investors, hire staff, write a business plan and much more.
Just as Mark is not afraid to share his knowledge about running and investing in start ups, he’s also not afraid to stir the waters and cause a little controversy. His views on what makes a good employee, what kinds of companies are worth of investment and how much of a successful entrepreneur is nature or nurture make for lively debates in the comments of each post. The high quality content of each Table post attracts, for the most part, equally high quality readers so comments can provide almost as much insight into Mark’s topic of choice as the original post.
With so much great info in past posts, it can be a bit daunting to get caught up with Mark’s views and style of writing. If you’re an entrepreneur looking for advice, he’s conveniently tagged all of his entrepreneur advice articles as such while if you want some of Mark’s more general thoughts on the industry, This Week in Venture Capital outlines his thoughts on up and coming start ups, new investments, and the overall pulse of the VC community.
