Raffle.it ups the ante
You wouldn’t call yourself a gambler (although you did meet one with pretty good advice one time) and your relationship with the odd hasn’t always been the most favourable. Why not try to load the dice with some good karma even while giving chance a chance with Raffle.it? Every week new raffle items are listed on the site with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
Let’s be clear, this isn’t your primary school class raffle full of baked-goods an books, Raffle.it is giving you the chance to get a £2700 day at Selfridges, a £5000 subscription package to Sky, or a £3000 makeover from InStyle magazine all for as little as £1. You can purchase multiple tickets but there is a limit to the number of entries and the winner is based on who chooses the lowest unique number for their raffle ticket. It’s an interesting strategy and Raffle.it may see a string of mathematicians running off with their prizes while the entrant numbers remain small.
While Raffle.it suggests that their model is more appealing than a standard auction site, it’ll be interesting to see if they can actually cover their costs. At the moment the fab prizes have been donated in the name of charity but without entries, it may be difficult for them to continue to roll out the goods.
Either way, the odds look pretty good for you.
