The Apple iPad 2
The Apple iPad 2 was one of the most eagerly awaited Apple products of all time. Just a year after the first iPad was launched the company was ready to unveil the second generation of the product. The first iPad was an incredible success selling three million units in the first 80 days of sales, so the decision to launch another version so soon was surprising. Many people thought that, like the iPhone, the changes made to the design of the device would be minimal. But when the product was presented by Steve Jobs earlier this year the public where pleasantly surprised, white versions of the iPad were now available. The new iPad looked quite different from its older sister. The outer sleeve, which is sold separately, added another dimension to the gadget.
The company who had decided to launch their own cases for both the first and second generation of devices had come up trumps. The cover which could only have been designed by apple offered practicality and faultless design. Unlike the previous iPad case, which was unpopular with the public, this case was a design success. Like everything else that Apple produces the iPad solved all the problems that a modern person could have.
The iPad not only allowed us to be contactable on the move, it also made it easier to surf the web, play games and read books. The updated version gave us a slimmer, quicker version of the device which revolutionised our lives.
The new device was also designed to have two cameras, one on the front of the device and one on the back. These new additions allow you to take part in video conferencing. The video chat app which is present in the iPhone 4 and the iPod touch is now also present in the iPad 2. So you can have as much FaceTime you want.
The new smart cover also puts the device to sleep when it is closed. The magnets that hold the cover in place mean that the cover almost looks like part of the device. This well thought out piece of technology is an asset to the gadget.
