Here’s Lookin’ At You, Kid

25 August 2009 4 Comments FavoriteLoadingAdd to favorites

It’s not stalking, you insist. You just looked at your ex’s Facebook profile to make sure he’s doing ok. Created a fake Twitter account to follow your professional competition for completely legitimate business reasons. Added that tracking cookie to your website to track returning visitors. Uh huh.

Stop selling your stalking skills short and upgrade to Woopra , the web analytics system that offers real time tracking of who is looking at your website, where they’re coming from, how long they’re staying and what pages they view – plus a laundry list of other useful stats. Woopra is still in closed beta but continues to accept new members into their free trial while they perfect the product. Woopra is a downloadable desktop client but also has a web version and WordPress plugin, although both have significantly fewer features than the client.

Woopra Analytics - Live Web Tracking

When it comes to analysing past data, Woopra is not as robust as Google Analytics or an enterprise product like Omnivore but Woopra works well in conjunction with either of these tools to better understand who visitors your site and what they’re looking for by giving a live action view of what’s going on at your website. It’s also highly addictive to watch as visitors explore your site. You may even be tempted to use Woopra’s built in chat feature which allows webmasters to communicate directly with the people viewing their site.

Prior to approval, you can sign up, submit your sites for consideration, download the application and view the chatter in the forums but until you get the magic email from the Woopra approvals team you’re stuck with Google Analytics so don’t remove that tracking cookie just yet.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Thanks for the great review. Remember, Woopra is still in early development. We’ve just added extensive segmentation, search and filtering, and custom reports, giving you control over what data you want to know. Have you played with them yet?

The Woopra WordPress Plugin has just been updated and includes a lot of new features with more on the way to allow you to customize how you track information in WordPress and Woopra.

For those who wish to try Woopra, please sign up and register your site as soon as possible. We will be closing this round of approvals very soon. But please do not install Woopra until you are approved. It can cause problems. Thanks!!!
