SkimWords Beta

Skimlinks has been making it easier for affiliate marketers and website owners to drive revenue from the products they discuss on their since launch in 2008. The initial Skimlinks product, a bit of code included in a website footer, transformed links on the site into affiliate-enabled links, automatically checking the link against the thousands in the Skimlinks directory, to see if a click through and sale would generate revenue for the original publisher. Additional releases have made it increasingly easy for webmasters to both benefit monetarily from the products they endorse as well as find products that are included in some of Skimlinks many affiliate partnerships.
The newest product in the Skimlinks family takes another step towards making the affiliate sales process even easier for publishers. SkimWords, now in private beta for approved Skimlinks publishers, automatically checks publisher content against the Skimlinks product database, and generates a link where the text appears.
Contextual linking as a sales strategy for web publishers isn’t new – but generally contextual ad links are seen as spammy, poor user experience and often unrelated to the topic of the publisher’s article or website. SkimWords, on the other hand, looks for products, rather than keywords, within the content. This ensures that links not only are relevant to the topics on the page (a mention of a Powershot camera and link to that Powershot camera on Best Buy’s website go together better than, say, the word web marketing and a link to an SEO agency) but also that the contextual links actually provide value to the user.
SkimWords is accepting new private Beta users weekly and it’s free to sign up for Skimlinks as a publisher or as an affiliate marketer. Skimlinks launched in December 2008 with the aim of helping publishers monetize their content seamlessly and easily. By aggregating and automating the process of creating affiliate links, Skimlinks is transforming affiliate marketing into a ubiquitous and mainstream revenue model for a wide diversity of publishers. Skimlinks helps thousands of websites worldwide focus on creating quality content while earning commissions from over 8,500 merchants across 22 affiliate networks.
